Inner City Ministries, Inc.

"Reaching the lost at any cost", aptly describes the birth of Inner City Ministries, Inc., which is parented by the Historic Mason Memorial Church of God in Christ, Inc. and the awesome vision and pastorate of Bishop David B. Williams. Inner City Ministries is designed to reach into the heart of area inner city communities to touch the lives of the people and to bring about positive change.

INNER CITY MINISTRIES is a ecumenical fellowship of Churches, Organizations and Individuals working together for the perpetuation, empowerment and organization of resources, both spiritual and material to people living in the inner cities and local communities.

The design and scope of Inner Cities Ministries, Inc. will include such ministries as Prevention Counseling, Prison After Care, Mentoring and Tutorial Programs, Housing, Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation, Food and Clothes Closet, Prison Visitation, Nursing Homes Visitation and Child Care.

These and other like ministries are supported by volunteers and the free will tax-deductible gifts of individuals and organizations. Inner City Ministries is a tax-exempt incorporation with 501C3 status.

PERSONAL PROFILE OF BISHOP DAVID B. WILLIAMS

1943

His mother prophesied that the child she was carrying, name David, would be a “Preacher” and succeed his father, Bishop D. Lawrence Williams, in the ministry.

 

 

1945

At five years old, David, accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and began his ministry under the leadership of his father, Bishop D. Lawrence Williams.

1961

Called by God to the ministry and licensed to Preach

 

 

1962

Received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit January 17th in College Dormitory

 

Sparked a Spiritual Revolution on College Campus in which many students received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit – Nyack Missionary College.

 

 

1964

Ordained an Elder by his father, the late Bishop D. Lawrence Williams.

 

 

1971

Became Pastor of the Renown Mason Memorial COGIC

 

 

1975-76

Listed in Who’s Who Among Black Americans

 

 

1979

  • Recognized and licensed a National Evangelist by the late Bishop L. C. Page.  Conducted numerous revivals and crusades across winning converts and strengthening Churches.

  •  

  • Founder and Organizer of Outreach for Christ Ministries introducing the concept of Para-ministry leading a staff in the following areas: Printing, Radio, Television, Transportation, Christian Education and Visitation.

    1986

    Appointed by Bishop Z. S. Hudson of COGIC Mission Department to be Chairman Publications Committee, Vice-Chairman Elders Council, and Field Representative of COGIC in .

     

     

    1989

    Founder and organizer of Outreach for Christ Chapel(COGIC), Richmond, VA..

     

     

    1995 to Present

    Member Board of Directors, Huntersville Community Center

     

     

    1998 –2000

    Member Executive Board, Hampton University Ministers Conferencee

     

     

    1999

    Appointed Assistant Treasurer, Norfolk District Churches of God in Christ

     

     

  • Chaplain of the Norfolk City Jail for five consecutive years.

  •  

  • First Black minister to syndicate a Television program with the Christian Broadcasting Network reaching over 14 states.

  •  

  • Builder and organizer of 2 non-profit Housing Complexes and the first Chairperson of the Board of Directors – COGIC Highrise for the Elderly, Inc. (the first in the State of ) and Williams Village Apartments, Inc.

  •  

  • Selected as Main Speaker for several National and State Convocations also selected to be the Teacher of several National Seminars and Conferences.

  •  

  • Commencement speaker at his own High School, Booker T. Washington High and has spoken at other education institutions including Kellam High, , Union University, and the Interdenominational Theological Seminary.

  •  

  • Organized interdenominational Community Good Friday Service, Huntersville Section of Norfolk, Virginia.

  •  

  • Author of several booklets and tracts.

  •  

  • World traveler – many countries on 5 continents.

  •  

  • Produced and trained several sons in ministry who now Pastor other Churches and scores of ministers and missionaries.

  • Purchased new Church edifice in , valued at over ½ million dollars, including Sanctuary, Educational facilities, Parsonage and acres of land for future expansion.

  •  

  • Designed Outreach for Christ Worldwide Headquarters to be built in , includes Administrative Office, Mass Media Center, Youth Camp, and Housing.

  • 2003

    Incorporated Mason Memorial Church of God in Christ with 501C3

    2004

    Founded, organized and established Inner Cities Ministries, Inc. with 501C3
